The FEDlogic Compass

Helping Employers & Their Employees Navigate and Maximize the Programs We Pay Into

The Rising Tide of Healthcare Costs and the FEDlogic Solution

Healthcare costs continue to rise across the country, placing significant pressure on individuals, families, and employers. As medical expenses grow, so does the complexity of navigating federal and state benefit programs designed to provide financial relief. Whether it’s Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security Disability, Veterans Benefits, Healthcare.gov, or other benefit systems, the landscape is vast and ever-changing.

At FEDlogic, we see firsthand the struggles individuals face in understanding and accessing these programs. As the only vendor in the United States that offers unbiased education and advocacy for ALL federal and state benefits, our mission is to make this process more accessible and less daunting for millions of Americans. We are proud to offer unbiased education to more than 4.5 million individuals across all 50 states. By providing unbiased education and advocacy, we empower people to make decisions that are best for them and their families.

FEDlogic has a proven track record of providing consistent, compassionate service in a rapidly evolving benefits landscape. Our steadfast dedication to providing unbiased advocacy is not only great for employees but it continues to generate significant financial returns for our clients. On average, FEDlogic delivers a return on investment (ROI) of between 2:1 and 13:1. This means that for every dollar companies invest in us, they receive at least double, and in some cases, over ten times that amount in savings.

A common misconception among businesses is that our services focus primarily on individuals over the age of 65. While Medicare and other senior benefits are certainly an important part of what we do, they represented less than 10% of the financial impact we had for our clients in 2023. Our services extend far beyond Medicare, helping clients navigate disability, premature baby births, end-stage renal disease, and income-related benefits. Whether someone is 25 or 75, our team works diligently to find the right solutions for each individual case, ensuring that no stone is left unturned.

As healthcare costs continue to rise, FEDlogic remains a vital partner in helping individuals and employers find relief. Through consistent, compassionate advocacy, we’ve built a reputation for delivering real results—helping employers provide value to their employees, and helping individuals find the benefits they need to live healthier, more secure lives. By working with FEDlogic, brokers, consultants, and employers can be confident they are partnering with an industry leader who has not only the scale but the expertise to make a profound difference in people’s lives.

Planning for Retirement and Healthcare: Why You Should Start Now

Retirement planning often focuses on saving and investing, but healthcare costs are a crucial component that’s frequently overlooked. With healthcare expenses representing a significant burden in retirement, planning early is essential to avoid costly surprises.

While many employees focus on building their savings, healthcare can become one of the largest out-of-pocket expenses in retirement. To avoid financial strain, it's important to account for Medicare premiums, deductibles, out-of-pocket costs, and potential supplemental coverage in your retirement planning.

Medicare plays a key role in retirement healthcare, but it’s important to know your options. Medicare Advantage and Medigap offer different levels of coverage and costs. FEDlogic experts can guide you through these choices to help you make informed decisions. Missing your Medicare enrollment deadline can result in penalties, so it’s vital to know your timeline.

Medicare doesn’t cover most long-term care services, like nursing homes or in-home assistance. Consider long-term care insurance or setting aside funds to protect your savings from these high costs.

Your retirement plan should include budgeting for healthcare expenses. Working with a FEDlogic expert and financial advisor can help ensure you're prepared for both expected and unforeseen medical costs.

FEDlogic offers resources to support employees and their households in healthcare and retirement planning. Our services include consultations and webinars to guide you through Medicare, long-term care insurance, and more. Regularly review and adjust your plan as your needs change.

By planning for healthcare costs now, you can protect your financial future and enjoy a more secure retirement. Reach out to FEDlogic today to start planning for tomorrow.

Client Success Spotlight: Easing Healthcare Costs and Providing Peace of Mind

Navigating the challenges of self-funded healthcare can be daunting, especially in the first year of a captive program. Recently, a client, who was new to participating in a captive and feeling apprehensive about the higher costs associated with self-funding, reached out for help. They were particularly concerned about a member of their plan who was facing the high expenses that come with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).

"I was asked to jump on a call with the client and an external producer," recalls Simone Wilkinson, Director of Risk Management at Leavitt Great West Insurance. "Armed with data that allowed for compelling discussions from collecting claims information and consultation statistics, we were able to inform the employer that the member had engaged with FEDlogic and found coverage that gave them peace of mind."

This engagement was more than just a financial solution. By guiding the member to coverage that better suited their needs, FEDlogic alleviated their significant burden. At the same time, this had a considerable financial impact for the employer. With dialysis treatments alone costing several hundred thousand dollars, not including the transplant, the savings were undeniable. Since individuals with ESRD often require long-term dialysis, this engagement could potentially save the employer hundreds of thousands of dollars over time.

"This value-add was significant," Wilkinson continued. "It not only provided immense relief to the member but also allowed us to inform our stop-loss carrier that this high-cost member was no longer on the plan, which aided in the renewal rate negotiations for the employer."

In addition to these savings, this success story became a focal point in a recent virtual captive updates meeting, showcasing how proactive solutions and early interventions can lead to positive outcomes for both employees and employers.

"Great stuff! I truly appreciate the fantastic work you all do," Wilkinson concluded.

This story highlights FEDlogic’s unique value proposition: supporting employees through complex healthcare challenges while helping employers achieve sustainable cost management. It’s proof that when we come together, we can make a difference—for both people and businesses.

A “Frank” Conversation

We have all experienced self-doubt when dealing with unfamiliar things. When it comes to understanding Social Security and your federal and state benefits, many of us worry that not understanding all the policies or not asking the right questions will prevent us from receiving what we are entitled to.

More than a decade ago, while working for the Social Security Administration, cofounder Elizabeth Cardenas and I witnessed the difficulties that people encountered when trying to access their benefits. We realized that many Americans feel uncertain and just need time, guidance, and support to understand and deal with their individual situations. Unfortunately, the lack of this assistance often leads to missed benefits and more hardship for families. This inspired us to create a company that could help bridge the information gap between the government and the people it serves.

Prior to working for the Social Security Administration, I had gained a personal understanding of how confusing and complex these benefits can be for the average American worker without an advocate to provide knowledge and practical assistance. My family personally experienced the frustration of missing out on benefits due to a lack of knowledge and understanding. My own sibling, Alex, who was born with a severe cognitive impairment, missed out on several years' worth of benefits and medical care because our family could not navigate the complexities of the disability system.

All of these available benefits are in place because of the hardworking families that pay into Social Security and will one day need to access what they have paid into. Whether it's a child with a severe disability like my sister, a person unable to work now due to a debilitating illness, or a retiree who has spent their life working and is now planning for their future stability - everyone who pays in eventually needs help accessing the support they are entitled to receive. Families need education, guidance, and someone who genuinely cares to help access their benefit options. We are grateful that FEDlogic is making an impact in bringing education and advocacy to the masses. We serve over 4 million American families across the nation, but our measure of success remains constant: how many more families can we help?
